  • About

The Conway School is an independent, accredited graduate program in ecological design that prepares students to create more sustainable, resilient, and equitable places. Through an immersive, hands-on curriculum, students learn landscape planning and design by working directly with communities on real-world projects across New England.

Conway brings together ecology, design, planning, and community engagement to address challenges including climate resilience, environmental justice, land conservation, food systems, affordable housing, and access to open space. Students work with municipalities, nonprofits, land trusts, and community organizations to develop practical, community-driven solutions.

Conway's projects span three scales: individual properties and landscapes; neighborhoods, towns, and municipalities; and regional or interconnected landscapes across larger geographies. Projects range from site designs and community gardens to comprehensive planning, conservation, climate resilience, and regional land-use planning.

Our Community Support Program provides low- and pro-bono planning and design services to communities and organizations with limited resources. Students gain real-world experience while partners gain capacity to address local challenges and build a more resilient future.
