SUMMARY:Common Music Collective Chamber Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Northampton Community Music Center (NCMC) is pleased to host the Common Music Collective\, a local musical co-op\, performing at NCMC on Wednesday\, August 24\, 2016 at 7:00 PM. General admission is $10 at the door.\n\n \n\nThe Common Music Collective will feature Elliot Lee and Amanda Stenroos on violin\, Sarah Bleichfeld on viola\, and Wayne Smith and Karl Knapp on cello. The concert will showcase Sergei Prokofiev's String Quartet No. 1 in B minor\, Op. 50 and Franz Schubert's String Quintet in C major\, D. 956\, Op. posth. 163.\n\n \n\nThe Common Music Collective\, an exciting new artist's cooperative based in Western Massachusetts\, was born out of a group of friends' desire to share their passion for exploring and performing all kinds of music with their communities. The Collective's artists are socially-minded musicians and teachers with diverse artistic and performance backgrounds. In an age where attendance at live music\, art\, theater\, and dance seems to be ever-declining\, the Collective's goal is to reverse this trend by increasing the dialogue between artists of all kinds and their audience members\, through engaging multi-genre\, multimedia performances\, as well as social and educational outreach. They hope to broaden the scope of what live performance can be\, in the local community and beyond.\n\n \n\nFounded in 1986\, the Northampton Community Music Center is a not-for-profit arts organization whose mission is to foster the love and pursuit of music within our community through quality education\, performances\, and events that are accessible to all.
