Concert Program:

Jörg Widmann Selections from Duos for Violin and Cello
Robert Schumann Sonata for Violin and Piano in D minor, Op. 121
Maurice Ravel Piano Trio in A minor

Violinist Carmit Zori and pianist Assaff Weisman are joined by guest cellist Raman Ramakrishnan. Schumann, Ravel, and Widmann, working in the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries, created unique and unmistakeable musical languages through colors and textures all their own.

Meet the Musicians at a Preconcert 2:00 PM Talk

John Montanari will lead a free preconcert discussion with members of the trio and field questions from the audience in an anticipated lively discussion.

Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage Hall at Smith College, Northampton, MA 01060

Sweeney Concert Hall, located in Sage Hall is heralded as one of the best concert halls on the East Coast. The comfortable, spacious hall seats more than 600, and its broad stage can readily accommodate the needs of a diverse range of performances, from solo recitals to large choral and orchestral ensembles. Sweeney’s excellent acoustics are suitable for both vocal and instrumental performances.

Driving Directions

To Sweeney/Sage/Smith College: From Route 91, take exit 18 and follow Route 5 North to the center of Northampton. At the 4-way set of lights, turn left onto Route 9 West (Main Street) and proceed through the center of the city to the next set of lights. At this point, you will see Edwards Church on your right, Academy of Music theater on your left, and Smith College front gate & a large collegiate building directly ahead of you on a little hill. Go through set of lights, get in the left lane.  Go up a short, small hill. Take Left at next traffic light on to West Street, then bear Right onto Green Street. Sage Hall is at the end of Green Street on the left, (144 Green Street).

Parking

There is often parking on the north side of Green Street,  in front of Sage Hall or at the parking lot halfway up Green Street (on the right/north side of the street). If needed, there is the Smith College parking garage (no cost). To get to the garage, go back up Green Street and take a right onto West Street. The garage is on your left just shortly after Forbes Library.
