Workshop: Upgrading an Old Website to WordPress
Presented by: Pioneer Training
Many small businesses have websites that are 10-15 years old. In most cases, older websites are not getting good search engine placement and are not mobile-friendly; that is, they cannot be viewed easily on cell phones or tablets. While small business owners justifiably fear the high cost of creating a new website, advances in website software and support have made it easier and faster to create websites that non-technical users can update. In addition, newer sites have built-in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and are automatically responsive, or mobile-friendly. The purpose of this workshop is to explain why it’s important to upgrade an older site and to discuss the available options. Since the most popular option for small business websites is the WordPress platform, the workshop will provide an overview of the WordPress dashboard and highlight important features, options, and plugins. The workshop will also cover the logistics of converting an existing site to a WordPress site.
