Date: September 23, 2016
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

The Massachusetts Cultural Council, Iroko Nuevo, and the Northampton Community Music Center proudly present Noche Cubana, a benefit concert celebrating Afro-Cuban dance and music on Friday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm at the Northampton Community Music Center at 139 South Street, Northampton, MA. Suggested donation of $10, all proceeds go to NCMC’s scholarship fund.

Iroko Nuevo, based in the Pioneer Valley, was founded in 2001 by Miguel Periche from Holguin, Cuba. The group performs Afro-Cuban folklore with a vibrant show composed of dancers, singers, and drummers. Iroko Nuevo’s performance is a blast of rhythm and melody, color and motion—traditional songs and dances from Afro-Cuban religion, the flirtatious dances of rumba, the Carnival festivities of comparsa and gaga, and a celebration of community.

Founded in 1986, the Northampton Community Music Center is a not-for-profit arts organization whose mission is to foster the love and pursuit of music within our community through quality education, performances, and events that are accessible to all. For more information, visit: www.ncmc.net
